Dr. Margaret McCollum found a special way to stay connected to her late husband, Oswald Laurence, years after his death in 2007.

After losing him, Margaret would regularly visit the station just to hear his voice. The announcement gave her comfort and made her feel close to him.
In 2012, the recording was replaced with a new digital voice. Margaret was deeply affected by the change and contacted transport officials, hoping they could help her hear her husband’s voice again.
After hearing her story, transport authorities searched their records and found a copy of the original recording. They gave Margaret a personal copy and restored Oswald’s voice at Embankment station.
Today, the announcement continues to play, turning a simple safety message into a lasting reminder of love and memories.
