Polls conducted across X, Facebook and Instagram have shown fans divided ahead of Sunday night’s 2026 FIFA World Cup final between defending champions Argentina and Spain, with each platform producing contrasting predictions.
On X, Spain emerged as the overwhelming favourite among respondents, securing 63.2 per cent of the votes in a pre-match poll, while Argentina attracted 36.8 per cent support.
The result suggests many fans believe La Roja will end their 16-year wait for a second FIFA World Cup title, having last lifted the trophy in South Africa in 2010.
However, the mood was more evenly split on Facebook, where supporters from both camps flooded the comment section with score predictions and title forecasts.
Several users tipped Spain to triumph, with predictions including 2-1 and 3-2 victories, while others backed Argentina to retain the title, forecasting wins by 2-0, 3-2 and even on penalties.
Some fans also predicted a closely contested affair that could end in a draw before being decided after extra time or a penalty shootout.
Instagram users also appeared to favour Argentina despite the X poll giving Spain the edge.
Among the predictions, user folu_omosegbon wrote, “We stand with Argentina,” while _itz_agnes predicted a 2-1 victory for the South Americans.
Another user, aya_oba_toh_fine, backed Argentina to beat Spain 3-1, while adetula81 predicted a thrilling 3-2 win for the defending champions.
Prettyveni01 also tipped Argentina to prevail 3-2, although kent.ogor predicted the match would finish 1-1 in regulation time.
Not all Instagram users sided with Lionel Messi’s team, however, as iamthesherifat predicted Spain would edge Argentina 1-0.
The differing predictions across the three platforms underline the excitement surrounding what is expected to be one of the most closely contested World Cup finals in recent history.
