“You should be in the kitchen” – Warri chief blasts Remi Tinubu, questions her role in the presidency

A traditional chief in Warri has sparked controversy after making strong comments about Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, saying she should focus on her husband and domestic duties instead of public affairs.

Speaking during a gathering, he also accused her of being disconnected from the suffering of Nigerians, especially amid rising insecurity in different parts of the country.

“She should take care of her responsibility by taking care of her husband and children. She has no place in the office of the presidency,” he stated.

The visibly angry chief further insisted that the First Lady has no constitutional role in governance and should not interfere in political or regional matters.

He also expressed anger over insecurity in parts of Nigeria, saying communities are tired of the situation and feel abandoned by leaders.

“Our blood is now bleeding. We are tired of all this nonsense from the Itsekiris. No matter who it is, we are prepared for it.”

The comments have sparked mixed reactions online, with many condemning the gendered remarks while others say it reflects frustration over insecurity. Authorities are yet to respond.
