A young man known as Sheihu, believed to be in his early twenties, has reportedly died in Salaga in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region after allegedly stabbing himself while attempting to demonstrate what he claimed were spiritual powers.
The incident is said to have occurred on Wednesday, June 24, during a youth programme marking the annual Fire Festival.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased allegedly used a knife on himself in front of a crowd while attempting to prove his supposed supernatural abilities.
He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Salaga Government Hospital for treatment.
He was later pronounced dead, leaving residents in shock.
The incident has sparked concern among locals, with many calling attention to the dangers of such demonstrations.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
