YouTube accounts for over 40 percent of internet traffic in Türkiye

Users in Türkiye spent most of their time online watching video content in the first quarter of the year, with YouTube accounting for the largest share of overall internet traffic.

According to data compiled by Anadolu from the Information and Communication Technologies Authority’s (BTK) quarterly report, internet usage in the country continues to be driven largely by social media and video platforms.

YouTube alone accounted for 40.6 percent of total internet traffic between January and March, far ahead of Instagram, which ranked second with 16 percent.

The figures highlight the growing dominance of video consumption, with streaming and social media platforms accounting for most online activity.

In the streaming category, YouTube remained the clear leader with 57.4 percent of traffic, followed by Instagram at 17.4 percent, TikTok at 5.6 percent and Netflix at 5.5 percent.

The data suggests that both short-form and long-form video content remain the primary drivers of internet use.
