Yusuf Buhari, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has announced his plan to run for a seat in the House of Representatives in 2027.
He is seeking to represent the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Yusuf made this known in Daura on Thursday while speaking to party members and supporters. His declaration came shortly after he visited Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda on Wednesday to seek his backing.
“I am here to seek your support, and I assure you that if elected, I will do my best and will never disappoint you, God willing. I thank all of you for your time, dedication and support,” he said.
At the gathering, traditional leader and Dan Madamin Daura, Alhaji Musa Haro, also urged people to support Yusuf’s ambition.
“We are here to ask for your support for our brother. We will go to the people in every town and village to seek their support. We will also reach out to other aspirants contesting the same seat to collaborate with them and seek their support,” Haro said.
He added that the current lawmaker representing the constituency, Aminu Jamo, had done well, noting that “nobody can do 100 per cent” in politics.
Yusuf was joined at the event by former lawmaker Fatuhu Muhammad and other members of his family. The seat is currently held by Aminu Jamo.
