The Zamfara State Government has signed an Air Route Development Partnership Agreement with XEJet Limited for scheduled commercial flights between Gusau International Airport and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The partnership is expected to improve air connectivity to Zamfara and support business, investment, tourism and economic activities in the state.
The agreement was signed in Gusau by the Deputy Governor, Malam Mani Mummuni, and the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Nakwada, who led the state delegation at the ceremony.
According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, XEJet is expected to commence the Gusau-Abuja service in October, with flights operating twice weekly.
The new route is expected to provide easier access to Zamfara for investors, businesses and visitors, while improving the movement of people and goods.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Governor said the partnership was in line with the state government’s efforts to strengthen transportation infrastructure and stimulate economic growth.
Mummuni said the Gusau International Airport was constructed from scratch and completed within two years.
“The main goal of constructing the airport is to make it easier and more efficient for people and goods to move, which should help boost the economy of the state,” he said.
The state government said the airport and the new commercial air route would help connect Zamfara to other parts of Nigeria and the wider world.
