A 14-year-old girl has been arrested over her alleged involvement in serious vandalism at a primary school in Mierlo, near Eindhoven.
The incident happened at De Kleine Vos primary school at the end of August.
A group of young people allegedly caused around €100,000 worth of damage inside the school.
Digital boards were destroyed, furniture was thrown around and windows were smashed.
Toys and books were also damaged.
The destruction was so serious that the school had to remain closed for several days.
Students were temporarily sent to other locations while the damage was dealt with.
Police started an investigation shortly after the incident.
The case received widespread media attention, which led to several witnesses contacting police with information.
Using information from witnesses and further investigation, police arrested the 14-year-old girl on suspicion of being involved in the vandalism.
Police said the investigation is still ongoing and more suspects could be questioned.
According to police, “several persons will be heard as suspects in the case”.
Authorities have not released more information because of the young age of those involved.
