20-Year-Old Woman Goes Blind After Showering With Contact Lenses

A 20-year-old woman, Grace Jamison, has shared her experience after losing her vision following a shower while wearing contact lenses.

Jamison said a rare amoeba entered her eye through the contact lenses, causing a serious infection known as Acanthamoeba keratitis.

The infection reportedly led to intense pain and temporary blindness. After receiving treatment, she was able to regain partial vision.

Following the incident, Jamison has warned contact lens users never to expose their lenses to tap water, including while showering or swimming.

She shared an emotional video about her experience, which quickly spread online as a warning about the risks of improper contact lens use.

Health experts have repeatedly advised that contact lenses should only come into contact with approved cleaning solutions to reduce the risk of eye infections.
