Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has expressed confidence that the Allied People’s Movement will win across all levels in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Governor Makinde stated this during the Boye Nation/JAF Movement Mega Concert, held at the Open Tennis Court of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
He stated that divine backing, the people of Oyo State, and Nigerians nationwide are solidly behind the party’s platform.
The event was also a major political rally where Makinde officially received thousands of defectors from the All Progressives Congress into the APM.
The defectors was led by Ajiboye Sangogade, a Personal Assistant to the former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, drawn from various local government areas across Oyo State.

Addressing the crowd, Governor Makinde took a swipe at the APC governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Alli, advising him to stop attacking the current state administration and instead focus his campaign efforts on facing the APM’s governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi.
He reaffirmed his earlier criticism of Alli’s legal credentials, stating that the electorate would not allow Oyo State to slide backward.
“God has signed off on what we are doing, and that is why it is raining today,” Makinde declared.
“We are welcoming thousands of APC members into the Allied People’s Movement (APM), proving that our victory in 2027 is only a matter of time. We will win massively across the board.”
He urged Alli to spend his energy convincing voters to support his party despite the ongoing economic hardships facing the country, rather than criticizing the state government.
“He questioned why I am an engineer yet we power streetlights with diesel,” Makinde remarked. “I believe he is pained because I called him an unsuccessful lawyer.
But where is the lie? I am an engineer and a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers—meaning I have reached the top of my profession.
Our candidate, Adekanmbi, is a certified accountant and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Ask Alli if he enjoys similar standing in his own field; he isn’t even a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).”
The rally was attended by prominent government figures and party leadership.
