Women across the South-East will reciprocate the empowerment initiatives of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu by mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 presidential election, the Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Betta Edu, has said.
Edu spoke with journalists in Owerri, Imo State, on the sidelines of the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative/SDG women empowerment programme.
She commended the First Lady for taking the empowerment initiative across the six geopolitical zones, describing the Imo programme as evidence of her commitment to improving the lives of women and strengthening families.
Edu said the empowerment of 2,500 women in Imo, coupled with the additional ₦100,000 cash support announced for each beneficiary, represented a significant intervention that would be extended across the South-East.
She said the APC women mobilisation campaign would return to the region with the message of President Tinubu’s programmes and achievements, promising an extensive grassroots campaign ahead of the 2027 election.
“We are coming back. Once the campaign is fully activated, we will return to the South-East, and we will take the message of hope from the Mother of the Nation to every woman.
“We will go door-to-door, household-to-household, market-to-market, shop-to-shop, village-to-village and community-to-community.
“We will sit with our women, listen to them, explain what the Renewed Hope administration is doing and assure them that the South-East has a place in the Nigeria we are building,” she said.
Edu urged women in Imo, Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu states to remain united and actively participate in the political process.
She described women as critical stakeholders in Nigeria’s economic and political development, saying the First Lady’s intervention should be viewed as part of a broader effort to promote women’s economic inclusion.
“Today, it is Imo State. She is starting from here, but we are not stopping here. The message is clear: the women of the South-East are an integral part of this journey, and they will benefit more as we move forward,” Edu said.
She also commended Governor Hope Uzodinma for what she described as improvements in road infrastructure, human capital development, social interventions and security in Imo State.
Edu expressed confidence that the beneficiaries and other women across the region would support Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
“Women remember those who stand with them. Our women will reciprocate this gesture through their votes and mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” she said.
