A 26-year-old Zambian woman has died following an alleged confrontation involving a woman believed to be having an affair with her husband.
The deceased, Vainess Kanyama, was a mother of three from Kapoto Township in Kitwe, Zambia.
According to the report reviewed by Ibynews.com, Kanyama went to confront the woman on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
Her uncle, Derrick Bwalya, later received a call informing him that his niece had been found unconscious near a local market.
He rushed to the scene and found Kanyama bleeding from her nose and unable to respond. He reportedly learned that she had already died before she could be taken to hospital.
One of Kanyama’s daughters reportedly witnessed her mother collapse. The child ran home and informed other family members.
The family reported the incident to the police.
A post-mortem examination reportedly found blood clots on both sides of Kanyama’s brain. The findings indicated that she died from injuries affecting her head.
Her family buried her on Friday and called on the authorities to investigate her death.
Bwalya also appealed to Kanyama’s husband to cooperate with the police and help them locate the woman allegedly involved in the incident.
Reports indicate that the woman left the area after the incident. Authorities had not announced an arrest at the time of publication.
Kanyama left behind three children. Her youngest child is five years old.
