A Ghanaian poultry farmer is appealing to the National Disaster Management Organisation for urgent assistance after reportedly losing his entire flock of birds to severe flooding triggered by yesterday’s heavy rainfall.
Video of the farm shows the scale of the loss, hundreds of dead birds scattered across a mud-covered poultry house floor, with feeding equipment still suspended from the ceiling above the wreckage left behind by the floodwaters.
The farmer, who has not been publicly named, said the flooding overwhelmed the facility with little warning, leaving him unable to evacuate or save any significant portion of his stock.
He is calling for immediate intervention from NADMO and other relevant authorities to help him recover from the financial devastation.
The incident adds to the mounting toll of yesterday’s nationwide flooding, which also affected residential areas, university facilities, and major commercial hubs including Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Achimota Mile 7, and the Spintex to Polo Grounds corridor.
