A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Adnan Mukhtar Tudun Wada, has dismissed allegations that the party’s national leadership imposed a governorship candidate for Kano State ahead of the 2027 elections, describing the claims as misleading and contrary to ongoing consensus efforts within the party.
Tudun Wada, a public relations practitioner and member of the party, made the remarks in a statement signed and sent to SolaceBase on Sunday.
He maintained that those behind the allegations lacked the authority to speak on behalf of the party and insisted that the ADC remained committed to due process in selecting its candidates.
The statement was issued in response to a recent press conference held by a group of individuals claiming to be ADC stakeholders in Kano, where they accused the party leadership of imposing a governorship candidate.
According to Tudun Wada, the individual being referred to as the party chairman no longer holds that position following a judgment of the Federal High Court.
He explained that the party would constitute a caretaker committee after concluding the process of addressing issues relating to aspirants seeking various political offices across the country.

He also rejected claims regarding the existence of an elders committee within the party, saying the ADC never endorsed or appointed anyone as chairman of such a body.
“There is nowhere the party endorsed or appointed the so-called Chairman of the Elders Committee,” he said, alleging that the actions of those making the claims were driven by a desire for political relevance and influence.
The ADC stalwart further disclosed that the party had earlier convened a consensus meeting involving two governorship aspirants, Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Amin Little and Ibrahim Khalil, where both men agreed to cooperate and accept the eventual decision of the party regarding its governorship flag bearer in Kano.
He said the party was still awaiting the final report of the consensus committee when it became aware of a press conference endorsing one of the aspirants and claiming that an election had already taken place.
Questioning the credibility of such claims, Tudun Wada asked why Ibrahim Khalil would sign a consensus agreement in Abuja if he genuinely believed that a valid election had already been conducted.

“If an election truly took place, why did Ibrahim Khalil sign a consensus agreement in Abuja if he believes in the authenticity of that election?” he queried.
He stressed that loyal party members would not take any action capable of undermining the integrity of the consensus committee or the ADC as a political party, adding that they were patiently awaiting the decision of the national leadership.
Tudun Wada also expressed confidence in the prospects of Ibrahim Ali Amin Little, describing him as a committed party loyalist who has continued to contribute to the growth and development of the ADC.
He said party supporters remained hopeful that Amin Little would eventually emerge as the party’s governorship candidate, adding that members were prepared to mobilise across Kano to welcome and support him if selected.
