Former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, NEPZA, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, will deliver the keynote address at the 20th anniversary celebration of the Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria, CICAN, Abuja Chapter.
Adesugba made the commitment when a delegation of CICAN, led by its Chairman, Gabriel Kuma, visited the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ACCI, where Adesugba presides as First Deputy President and President-elect.
According to a statement issued by Kuma, the delegation went to formally invite Adesugba and brief him on the role assigned to him at the event.
“We visited Prof. Adesugba to formally invite him to our 20th anniversary celebration and to inform him of the key role the association has generously assigned to him.
The statement said Adesugba expressed honour that CICAN considered him worthy of the responsibility, even years after leaving office as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NEPZA.
According to Kuma, the former NEPZA boss thanked CICAN members for supporting him during his tenure at NEPZA and assured the delegation that he would deliver the address.
Adesugba also pledged to use his position at ACCI to mobilise corporate support for the celebration.
Kuma also pledged to pool more support from companies which may offer products, services and other resources for the event.
He added that Adesugba pledged personal support, while indicating that the ACCI President would assist within the chamber’s capacity.
Describing the visit as a significant step towards deepening ties between CICAN and ACCI, Kuma said the association was keen to sustain the partnership as Adesugba is expected to assume the chamber’s presidency later this year.
“We intend to continue nurturing this relationship for the benefit of CICAN and the advancement of commerce and industry journalism,” he said.
