According to a report by The Punch on Sunday, June 28, 2026, a tragic three-story building collapsed on Thursday, taking the lives of nine people in the Alakija suburb of Lagos. The area is still in grief. The narrow escape of shop owner Kenneth Nwabueze became a nightmare when he went to his job in ruins and discovered his young apprentice buried under the wreckage.
Nwabueze is one of the survivors.
As Nwabueze recounted the terrifying events, he said, “I received a call that our building had collapsed within five minutes after I stepped out to deliver a job for a client.” His heart skipped a beat, he confessed.
