The All Progressives Congress in Anambra State has expelled 30 members for taking legal action against the party.
The state Publicity Secretary of the party, Valentine Iyiegbu, disclosed this on Monday after a meeting of the State Executive Committee in Awka.
According to Iyiegbu, the decision was taken in line with Article 21, Subsection 5 of the party’s constitution.
He explained that some of the affected members are aspirants seeking the party’s tickets for seats in the National Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Iyiegbu said the litigations instituted by the affected members against the party could affect their eligibility to participate in the party’s primary elections.
He noted that the party resolved to expel the members because they failed to exhaust internal mechanisms for resolving grievances before approaching the court.
According to him, the State Executive Committee ratified the expulsion after reviewing the matter.
The APC spokesman, however, stated that the affected members could still be reconsidered if they withdraw their court cases.
He further disclosed that aspirants are contesting for all 11 House of Representatives seats and the three Senate seats in Anambra State under the party’s platform.
The party also ratified the appointment of a five-member primary elections committee headed by the State Organising Secretary, Izuchukwu Okeke.
The development comes as political parties intensify internal preparations and consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
