The Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State has commenced the screening of aspirants seeking to contest elective positions on the party’s platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party disclosed that the screening exercise will begin on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in line with the timetable approved by the party’s national leadership.
In a statement issued by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, the PDP said the exercise would cover aspirants vying for seats in the Kwara State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship positions.
According to the statement, screening for House of Assembly aspirants who successfully purchased the Nomination and Expression of Interest forms will hold on Tuesday at the party secretariat in Ilorin by 9:00 a.m.
The party added that aspirants contesting for the House of Representatives and Senate seats would be screened on Wednesday, May 13, at the party secretariat in Ilorin.
It further stated that governorship aspirants would undergo screening on Thursday, May 14, at the party’s national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja.
The PDP urged all aspirants to appear before the screening panels with the required documents for verification and ratification.
The documents listed include completed nomination and expression of interest forms, valid means of identification, academic credentials, birth certificate or declaration of age, passport photographs, party membership card, and evidence of payment for forms and party dues.
Other requirements include tax clearance certificates for the last three years, letter of indigeneship, proof of financial capacity, and copies of completed forms for submission.
The party stressed that only aspirants who successfully scale through the screening process would proceed in the electoral process.
According to the PDP, the exercise is part of efforts to ensure transparent and democratic internal processes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify consultations and preparations ahead of the next general elections.
