The FCT Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Philip Aduda, has described his victory at Monday’s primaries as a clear message from residents demanding stronger and more effective representation at the National Assembly.
Aduda, in a statement issued on Thursday, said the overwhelming support he received throughout the race “reaffirm the trust and belief” FCT voters have in his capacity to deliver quality, people-focused lawmaking.
He noted that the territory had lacked a strong voice in the Senate for three years, a gap he said has affected the welfare and development priorities of the nation’s capital.
Aduda who served as the Senate minority leader in the 9th National Assembly said, “The massive support and goodwill shown to me reaffirm the trust and belief the people have in my capacity to place the FCT on a better path through quality representation and the enactment of people-oriented laws that will positively impact the lives of our citizens.”
He maintained that his emergence reflects a wider public demand for “competent, capable, and people-focused leadership that understands their yearnings and aspirations.”
While aligning his legislative agenda with the reforms currently taking shape in the FCT, Senator Philip Aduda praised the ongoing infrastructure expansion, improvements in utilities, civil service reforms, and the removal of the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account. He credited these developments to the leadership of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
“These remarkable achievements have been made possible under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike.
“On behalf of the people, I sincerely appreciate his commitment, dedication, and genuine love for the development of the FCT and its people.”
Aduda thanked fellow aspirants for what he described as their maturity and commitment to party unity. He singled out Dr. Mrs. Amina Zanna Ibrahim, who stepped down to support him—an action he called a “rare show of sacrifice, unity, and commitment.”
He further acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying, “My special appreciation goes to Mr. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through our Leader, H.E Ezenwo Nyesom Wike on whose mandate and that of the people we stood.”
Aduda said his legislative focus would centre on improving welfare, expanding opportunities for young people, and strengthening development initiatives across the FCT.
“My covenant with the people of the FCT is clear: I promise to provide purposeful and people-oriented representation through the promotion of bills and policies that will improve the standard of living of our people,” he said.
He called on APC members and supporters to intensify mobilisation ahead of the general election, saying the goal is to “deliver victory for Mr. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and secure all National Assembly seats” for the party in the FCT.
