A concerned stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency I, Barr. Fadaisi Ismail Esq., has petitioned the leadership of the party in Lagos State, calling for the disqualification of Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji from returning to the Lagos State House of Assembly over alleged anti-party activities and his purported involvement in the controversial impeachment plot against the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.
In the petition addressed to the Lagos State Chairman of the APC at the party secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja, the petitioner accused Adedeji of playing a “leading role” in the political crisis that rocked the Lagos State House of Assembly and allegedly attempted to undermine the leadership structure within the party.
According to Barr. Fadaisi, the impeachment saga created “embarrassment and unnecessary tension” within the APC and the state at large, describing the actions of those allegedly involved as “reckless, self-serving and a direct affront to party supremacy and constituted authority.”
The petitioner further alleged that Hon. Adedeji manipulated several lawmakers into supporting the controversial move by allegedly claiming that the directive had the backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“It is widely alleged and reliably gathered that Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji played a leading role in orchestrating the entire saga,” the petition stated.
“Findings revealed that he manipulated and misled several lawmakers into participating in the conspiracy by falsely claiming that the directive emanated from our revered leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Such conduct is highly condemnable, deceptive and unbecoming of a party member entrusted with public office.”
Barr. Fadaisi also referenced reports surrounding the denial of another term ticket to actor-turned-politician, Desmond Elliot, allegedly over his involvement in the same episode, arguing that justice and fairness demanded equal treatment for all party members implicated in the crisis.
“If Hon. Desmond Elliott could reportedly be denied another term ticket over his involvement in the same anti-party episode, then justice, fairness and equity demand that Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji should not be treated as an exception,” the petitioner argued.
The petition further accused the lawmaker of allegedly attempting to influence some party leaders through financial inducement in a bid to secure political protection and avoid accountability.
“More disturbing are reports that Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji has now resorted to desperate attempts to escape accountability through inducement and financial influence targeted at certain compromised and money-driven leaders within the party structure,” the letter added.
The APC stakeholder warned that allowing Adedeji to return to the Lagos State House of Assembly could further deepen internal division within the party and encourage acts of political sabotage and indiscipline.
“Lagos State cannot afford to reward betrayal, manipulation and destabilization. Allowing him to return to the Assembly will only embolden further acts of insubordination and division within the party,” Barr. Fadaisi stated.
The petitioner therefore appealed to the Lagos APC leadership to thoroughly investigate the allegations and deny the lawmaker any opportunity to return to the Assembly in the interest of party discipline, unity and integrity.
As of the time of filing this report, Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji had not publicly responded to the allegations contained in the petition.
