The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 17 chairmanship seats contested in the September 26, 2026 local government elections in Enugu State.
The Nation reported that the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) declared the results on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters in Enugu, with all 17 candidates returned elected on the platform of the APC.
ENSIEC Chairman, Prof. Christian Ngwu, formally announced the results, declaring the candidates elected chairmen of their respective local government areas.
In Aninri, Ugochukwu Nwanjoku emerged winner, while Okolo Uchenna Joseph won in Awgu. Beloved Dan Anike was declared elected in Enugu East, Onoh Ibenaku in Enugu North and Caleb Ani in Enugu South.
Other winners include Vitalis Chinedu Ngwu in Ezeagu; Martin Amadieze in Igbo Etiti; Chris Onyekachi Simon in Igbo Eze North; Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze in Igbo Eze South; and Ani Brendan Emeka in Isi-Uzo.
Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe won in Nkanu East, while John Ogbodo emerged victorious in Nkanu West and Jude Chinedu Asogwa was declared winner in Nsukka.
The remaining winners were Anyaegbudike Greg in Oji River, Ezeoha Innocent in Udenu, Agu Hyginus in Udi and Ezeukwu Chijioke in Uzo-Uwani.
While declaring the results, Ngwu commended the people of Enugu State for their participation in the elections, saying their involvement gave meaning to the electoral process.
He also appreciated the security agencies, civil society organisations and the media for their contributions to what he described as the successful conduct of the elections.

The ENSIEC chairman congratulated the newly elected chairmen and urged them to see their victories as “a call to service and an opportunity to serve the people” of their respective local government areas.
With the declaration of the 17 chairmanship results, ENSIEC formally brought the chairmanship aspect of the September 26 council elections to an end.
The commission subsequently presented certificates of return to the 17 newly elected council chairmen.
