India to Be Represented at the Funeral

People familiar with the matter said Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita and Bihar Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Syed Ata Hasnain will represent India at the funeral ceremonies. The events will be held in Tehran and Qom from July 5 to July 7, while the final burial ceremony is scheduled for July 9 in Mashhad.

Who Was Ayatollah Ali Khamenei?

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei led Iran as its Supreme Leader for more than 30 years. According to the information provided, he was killed on February 28 during large-scale US and Israeli airstrikes on Tehran. His death is being seen as a major turning point for Iran and the wider Middle East.

PM Modi Speaks With Iran’s President

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently held a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who briefed him on the latest developments in West Asia.

PM Modi welcomed the recent understanding in the region and said that all issues should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.

India Highlights Importance of the Strait of Hormuz

During the call, PM Modi stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for global trade and energy supplies.

He also said India supports lasting peace, regional stability, freedom of navigation, and uninterrupted international commerce.

No Official Word on PM Modi’s Attendance

Although diplomatic sources say Iran has invited PM Modi to the funeral ceremonies, the Indian government has not officially confirmed whether he has accepted the invitation or plans to travel to Iran.
