Before my eyes met the Ka’abah-Aliyu Samba

Last night, I entered Makkah…

Yet my heart had been circling this city

long before my body arrived.

For years,

I carried the direction of this House

inside every prayer,

turning my face toward it

five times each day,

while my eyes remained strangers

to its beauty.

How strange that a place can live within you

before you ever touch its soil.

And then it happened.

A moment so small in time,

yet so vast in meaning,

that all the years before it

seemed only preparation.

The crowd moved.

The marble widened.

The space opened.

And suddenly…

There it was.
