Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the recently appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, has thanked President Bola Tinubu for her appointment and promised to further Nigeria’s interests internationally.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu called her appointment a privilege and a call to greater service in a post on Thursday via her verified X (previously Twitter) profile.
“H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, appointed me as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria yesterday, April 29, 2026,” she wrote.
The minister acknowledged that she is dedicated to upholding the trust and thanked the President for the confidence placed in her.
“I am incredibly honored to take on this new position and thank the President from the bottom of my heart. I am incredibly humbled by your faith in my skills, Your Excellency,” she continued.
The minister declared that she will concentrate on advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy in accordance with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“I look forward to strengthening our citizen diplomacy efforts and contributing to the ongoing success of the 4D Foreign Policy priorities under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” she said.
Additionally, she assured Nigerians of her commitment to national service.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu declared, “I reaffirm to the good people of Nigeria my unwavering commitment to advancing our national interests on the international stage.”
According to PUNCH Online, the President named Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday in response to Yusuff Tuggar’s resignation. Tuggar is scheduled to run for governor of Bauchi State in 2027.
