According to a report by The Punch on Sunday, June 28, 2026, after winning the local elections on Saturday by a wide margin, the All Progressives Congress has solidified its position as the dominant party in Gombe State. The APC was officially declared the victor of all 240 councillorship positions and 24 chairmanship seats across Gombe State by the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission.
Abdullahi Garba, current chairman of the GOSIEC, made the announcement and hailed the exercise as a watershed moment in the state’s history.
Based on the results we have received, APC has been declared the winner in virtually all the local governments. This election marked a significant shift in the state’s administrative structure, which was approved by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
