According to a report by The Nation on Thursday, July 2, 2026, a 24-year-old suspected political thug, Olamilekan Oriyomi, has denied any intention to assassinate the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign council in Osun State, Hon. Oluwole Oke, insisting that he was only at the scene to provide security.
The Osun State Police Command arrested Oriyomi alongside Ayotunde Ikupolati, 44, and Femi Fakinleye, 31, following an alleged assassination plot targeting Oke. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan said the arrests resulted from intelligence-led operations against political thuggery, cultism and other violent crimes in the state.
According to the police, the incident occurred on June 30 after Oke and other APC members visited the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesa before proceeding to a town hall meeting with party supporters......>>>
