Speaking during the interview, Momodu stated, “The North is treating anyone who does not support Atiku Abubakar as a traitor.” He made the remark while discussing the level of support he believes Atiku currently enjoys among influential political stakeholders in Northern Nigeria.
According to Momodu, there is growing pressure within parts of the North for political leaders to rally behind Atiku, whom he described as a leading figure in the region’s political calculations. He suggested that those who choose a different political direction are increasingly viewed with suspicion by some supporters.
Momodu further argued that the political environment remains fluid and that alliances could still evolve before the 2027 election. He emphasized that candidates and parties would need to engage voters through issue-based campaigns focused on economic recovery, national security, and good governance.
He concluded by urging politicians to promote unity and tolerance despite differing political opinions, stressing that democratic competition should be based on ideas and policies rather than hostility toward those with opposing views.
