Britney Spears has described the drama surrounding her recent DUI arrest as a “blessing in disguise,” marking her first public statement since her sentencing and exit from rehab.
The 44-year-old pop star took to Instagram over the weekend to share her thoughts, reflecting on her “spiritual journey” following a turbulent few months.
Spears, who was arrested on March 4 for suspicion of DUI, pleaded guilty in a Ventura County court earlier this week. She was sentenced to 12 months probation, one day in jail (which she has already served), and mandatory enrollment in a three-month alcohol and drug education program.
Alongside a post featuring a photo of a yellow and white snake, Spears shared her thoughts with her followers: “Went to the pet store with my kids and look at what a beautiful baby snake this is… Snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck… I’m so d**n thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey… all a blessing in disguise…”
Spears further opened up about the journey to better self-understanding, saying, “I still need to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself… It’s a never-ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on!!!!”
Earlier this week, Spears had pleaded guilty via her lawyer, Michael Goldstein, as she did not attend the arraignment in person. The court also imposed several additional conditions, including a $721 fine, psychological and psychiatric counseling sessions, and an order to refrain from consuming alcohol or drugs aside from prescription medication.
Spears also spoke on her time in rehab, where she spent just under three weeks at the exclusive Borden Cottage facility in Maine. The facility, known for its luxury holistic treatment programs, charges up to $140,000 for a minimum 45-day stay.
Though she was absent from a rare family reunion, where her niece Maddie celebrated her high school graduation, Spears has expressed that she is now focusing on her well-being. The singer’s son, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19, were notably absent from the reunion, while other family members, including her mother Lynn and father Jamie, were in attendance.
Following his mother’s rehab stay, Jayden was asked by photographers in West Hollywood about the situation and simply replied with a nod of affirmation when asked if his mother was “doing good.”
Spears’ recent challenges have sparked widespread media attention, but the singer appears to be taking it all in stride, viewing the experience as a catalyst for personal growth.
