…. MUSA SALUTES GALLANT TROOPS AS INSTITUTE APPLAUDS FEDERAL SUPPORT IN LANDMARK OYO KIDNAP OPERATION
The Institute of Security Nigeria has issued an official endorsement statement commending the Nigerian Army 2 Division, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and all collaborating security agencies for the successful rescue of 44 pupils, teachers, and a principal abducted from Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, on May 15, 2026. The victims were freed on July 10 after 56 days in captivity.
In a statement signed by the Institute’s Deputy President and Chief Executive, the organization praised the “intelligence-led, well-coordinated operation” and specifically acknowledged the strategic leadership of the General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Major General C.R. Nnebeife. The Institute highlighted the “seamless interagency synergy” involving the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, DSS, NIA, NSCDC, NCTC-ONSA, local vigilantes, hunters, and the Amotekun Corps.

THE INSTITUTE’S POSITION AND CALL TO ACTION
The Institute of Security Nigeria applauded the operation as a model for transformative security, validating its long-held position that intelligence is king, jointness wins, and community is the first line of defense. The Institute noted the critical role of local vigilantes and hunters, stating: “Attacks on schools are attacks on the future of Nigeria. We must invest more in school security and security education.”
The Institute urged the Federal and Oyo State Governments to sustain momentum by expanding security education in schools, strengthening forest policing, and providing adequate welfare for troops. It also called for the implementation of the Safe Schools Declaration and enhanced protection for educational institutions.
TRIBUTE TO FALLEN HEROES
The Institute extended its deepest appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his strategic guidance, and to Governor Seyi Makinde and the people of Oyo State for their support. It also prayed for the quick recovery of the rescued victims and for the repose of the souls of security personnel who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
“Nigeria is safer today because of the courage and professionalism of our security forces. The Institute stands ready to continue providing research, training, and policy support to ensure that such successes are replicated nationwide,” the statement concluded.
