Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that children should never have to bear the burden of war, conflict and poverty, stressing that living in peace and security is their most natural right.
Speaking at TRT’s 48th International April 23 Children’s Festival Gala Program in Ankara on Thursday, Erdogan said innocent children continue to suffer most from wars and oppression across the region despite ongoing efforts to restore peace.
“Living in a country and a world where there is no war, conflict, fighting, deprivation or poverty is your most natural right,” Erdogan said, addressing children at the event.
He warned that despite all diplomatic efforts, violence and injustice continue to devastate the region.
“Unfortunately, despite all our efforts, wars and oppression in our region continue. The price of these wars is usually paid by innocent children,” he said.
