The Chelsea full-back made the surprising declaration in comments shared by LiveScore on X ahead of Spain’s World Cup final against defending champions Argentina.
“If Spain win the World Cup, I’ll call Luis de la Fuente the next day and retire from the national team. With the Euro and World Cup trophies, you can’t ask for more,” Cucurella said.
The 27-year-old has been a key member of Luis de la Fuente’s squad, helping Spain reach the World Cup final after winning the UEFA Euro 2024 title.
