David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is a Nigerian singer who has declared an indefinite hiatus from music.
The OBO crooner stressed that he is on sabbatical and warned his fans not to expect new songs from him anytime soon during a recent livestream with Davrel.
Davido claimed that since his songs are now ruling club playlists, he doesn’t need to make new music to stay relevant in the music industry.
“Stop asking me when I’ll be releasing new music. I’m taking a musical hiatus. Ten of the twenty songs in the club right now are mine, as I mentioned. “I’m taking a musical break,” he declared.
Davido also made a statement about the emerging celebrity boxing competition in Nigeria, calling it a positive development.
The celebrity boxing contest has truly impressed me. It’s a positive development,” he said.
According to the DAILY POST, controversial artist Portable was just overthrown as the current champion of a Nigerian celebrity boxing event by well-known streamer Cater Efe.
Following his loss, Portable said that many people in the music business didn’t like him and accused them of being unsupportive.
