RSE Engineering Nigeria Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) to promote the deployment of advanced cogeneration technology across key sectors in Nigeria.
Advanced Cogeneration Technology, also known as Combined Heat and Power (CHP), simultaneously generates electricity and recovers usable thermal energy (heating or cooling) from a single fuel source.
By capturing waste heat, it achieves up to 85% to 90% total system efficiency, vastly outperforming traditional separate generation which averages 35% to 55%.
The Director-General of ECN, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, hosted the strategic signing ceremony on Thursday in Abuja, to advance local capacity development, research collaboration and sustainable energy solutions.
“Today marks another significant milestone in the commission’s commitment to advancing Nigeria’s energy sector through strategic partnerships, innovation and sustainable energy solutions.
“The complex energy challenges facing our nation require collaboration, strategic partnerships, knowledge sharing, technological innovation and the collective efforts of stakeholders.
“The true value of these partnerships will not be measured by the signatures affixed today but reflected in the successful implementation of agreed programmes,” he said.
The Second Secretary for Economic Issues, Ukrainian Embassy, Mr David Hohiia, said the European nation is ready to share advanced modular and cogeneration technologies to boost Nigeria’s electricity efficiency.
According to him, in spite of the infrastructural damages caused by ongoing conflicts, Ukraine has maintained a sustainable power grid through decentralised energy systems.
“We want to share with Nigeria how to get more efficient power supply and more efficient electricity.
“We can achieve this not by building big power plants, but by using some modular technology, cogeneration technology and environmental proper technologies.
“That is why we are here to collaborate with the Energy Commission and the MoU has been signed already,” he said.
The Chief Executive Officer, RSE Engineering Nigeria Limited, Ms Olena Nedryhailo, said that the introduction of European cogenerator model systems under the new pact will significantly resolve Nigeria’s lingering electricity supply challenges.
Nedryhailo noted that the latest collaboration expands the company’s sustainable footprint in Nigeria following previous strategic pacts signed with the Federal Government.
“Our technology is working for more than 15 years and our mother company in the Czech Republic shows good results.
“Now we are selling a lot of cogenerator model systems and hope we will be useful to help solve the problem with electricity,” she said.
