Nigeria’s U20 women’s national team, the Falconets, will depart the country on Monday night for Poland as they begin their campaign at the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Communications Department disclosed this in a statement, on Monday, August 24, saying the team had completed its final camping and preparations in Abuja ahead of the tournament.
The Falconets secured their place at the global tournament after overcoming Rwanda, Senegal and Malawi during the qualifying campaign.
They defeated Rwanda 5-0 on aggregate, beat Senegal 3-1 on aggregate and edged Malawi 3-2 on aggregate to seal their ticket to Poland.
The team subsequently underwent an intensive final phase of preparation in Abuja, focusing on physical fitness, tactical discipline, teamwork and mental readiness.

Head coach Moses Aduku expressed confidence in the squad, saying the players were adequately prepared for the challenge ahead.
Aduku said the Falconets were travelling to Poland “with a strong winning mentality and the ambition of challenging for the trophy.”
Captain Joy Igbokwe also assured Nigerians that the team would give its best at the tournament and urged supporters to continue backing the squad.
Igbokwe appealed to Nigerians to “continue believing in, praying for and supporting the team,” adding that the players were determined to make the country proud.
The Falconets will compete in Group F alongside Spain, China PR and New Caledonia.
Nigeria finished as runners-up at the 2010 and 2014 editions of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup and will be seeking to go one step further by winning the competition for the first time.
The team is expected to arrive in Poland on Tuesday, August 25, and will initially stay at Hotel Trzebnica in Trzebnica until September 3, when it will move to the official FIFA hotel.
During their stay in Trzebnica, the players will continue their tactical and technical preparations while acclimatising to the conditions ahead of their group-stage matches.
The Falconets will face Spain on September 7, China on September 10 and New Caledonia on September 13.
A total of 21 players will represent Nigeria at the tournament, with the country maintaining its record as the only African nation to have participated in every edition of the competition since its launch as an U19 tournament in Canada 24 years ago.
