The five people killed in a bus crash in Switzerland were Dutch tourists aged over 70 and came from different parts of the Netherlands, according to Dutch ambassador to Switzerland Karin Mössenlechner.
The victims were four women and one man. They included a 79-year-old woman from Rotterdam, an 80-year-old woman from Maastricht, a 71-year-old woman from Haarlem and a 75-year-old woman from Noord-Brabant. Brabants Dagblad reported that the latter was from Uden. The male victim was a 75-year-old from Groningen.
Three other people were critically injured in the crash. Seven suffered moderate injuries, while another 30 sustained minor injuries.
The tour group was travelling with Dutch tour operator Oad and consisted of 48 passengers and a driver.
The accident happened at around 4:45 p.m. on Thursday as the bus travelled from Zernez towards Susch in eastern Switzerland.
Police said initial findings suggest the bus went off the road near a construction site before overturning.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the families of those who died have been informed.
Ambassador Mössenlechner and her team are continuing to visit injured passengers receiving treatment at several hospitals. Embassy staff also met with relatives of the victims on Friday.
