Architect Kabir Ibrahim Faskari, who previously led both the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), died in Istanbul, Turkey, after complications from prostate surgery.
At the time of his death, Faskari was Chairman of the Agriculture Business Group, which kept him involved in Nigeria’s farming and agribusiness circles.
A buddy who confirmed the death stated that a group of associates traveled to Istanbul to see Faskari and even spoke with him soon before returning to Nigeria.
The friend stated that issues from the surgery appeared to have developed following that visit. A source told Daily Trust that Faskari would be laid to rest in Turkey, but no other information was available at the time of publication.
Faskari was largely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most ardent supporters of the agricultural industry.
He advocated for farmers’ interests across the country as president of AFAN and PAN, and he was a frequent face at policy discussions on food production, poultry farming, and agribusiness.
He gave countless interviews to the media on topics ranging from food security to the structural issues that Nigerian farmers face, and he was recognized as an authoritative voice on what the country needs to do to strengthen its agricultural foundation.
