Funso Doherty Dumps ADC, Defects To NDC

Former Lagos State African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Funso Doherty has dumped the party and defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

NewsWatch Nigeria reports that Doherty announced his decision on Thursday, saying recent events in the ADC created cracks among major members of the party.

According to him, some stakeholders decided to move to the NDC while others stayed behind in the ADC.

He explained that the ADC was first planned as a united platform that would bring opposition groups together ahead of future elections. However, he said the situation within the party has changed and the goal of unity can no longer be achieved under the current arrangement.

After consultations and discussions with people close to him, Doherty said he decided to join the NDC because he believes the party offers a better path for Nigerians and a stronger opportunity to build an inclusive government.

He also said the journey ahead would not be easy, but added that he remains hopeful that the opposition can still grow into a force capable of bringing political reforms and offering Nigerians another option.

Doherty called on his supporters and other Nigerians who share similar political views to join the NDC, describing the party as a movement that wants to create a better future for citizens across the country.
