The governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has congratulated the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on the occasion of its 53rd Anniversary.
The congratulatory message was contained in a letter to the body on Friday, signed on behalf of the governor by Secretary to the State Government, Osun State, Bobagunwa Teslim Igbalaye.
The governor, in the message, commended the NYSC which he said has stood “as a beacon of national unity, a catalyst for youth empowerment, and a vital engine for community development across Nigeria. ”
He affirmed that Osun State has, for five decades, witnessed firsthand the invaluable contributions of corps members in education, healthcare, agriculture and grassroots development.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Osun State, I extend warm and heartfelt congratulations to the National Youth Service Corps on the occasion of its 53rd Anniversary.
“For over five decades, the NYSC has stood as a beacon of national unity, a catalyst for youth empowerment, and a vital engine for community development across Nigeria.
“Through the dedication and selfless service of successive batches of corps members, the Scheme has bridged cultural divides, fostered mutual understanding, and left an indelible mark on our socio-economic and cultural landscape.
“Here in Osun State, we have witnessed firsthand the invaluable contributions of corps members in education, healthcare, agriculture, and grassroots development. Their energy, innovation, and commitment continue to enrich our communities and inspire hope for a brighter future.
“We commend the visionary leadership of the Director-General, Brig. Gen. OO Nafiu, and the entire management and staff of the NYSC, both at the national level and in Osun State, for sustaining the ideals of the Scheme with professionalism and unwavering dedication.
“As we mark this 53rd milestone, the Government of Osun State reaffirms its commitment to supporting the NYSC and creating an enabling environment for corps members to serve safely and effectively.
“May the NYSC continue to grow from strength to strength, nurturing generations of patriotic, competent, and service-oriented young Nigerians,” the letter read.
