Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of children to help them realise their full potential.
Yusuf made the pledge during a Sallah
visit to the Nassarawa Children’s Home in Kano on Sunday, where he interacted with residents and shared a meal with them as part of efforts to celebrate the festive season with vulnerable groups.
He announced plans to transform the children’s home into a modern, well-equipped facility with upgraded infrastructure and amenities to provide a safe and conducive environment for residents.
The governor assured the children that his administration would continue to implement programmes aimed at enhancing their welfare, education, healthcare, and overall quality of life.
Yusuf described the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi-Sani, as a tested, trusted, and transparent public servant committed to service delivery.
He said he had monitored the ministry’s activities under her leadership on several occasions and was impressed by her transparency, accountability, and integrity.
According to him, the commissioner has justified the confidence reposed in her through prudent resource management and unwavering commitment to the welfare of women, children, and persons with special needs in the state.
Earlier, the commissioner thanked the governor for his support and commitment to the residents’ welfare.
She noted that the administration had regularly provided food, improved water supply, electricity, access to education and healthcare, and a safer, more conducive living environment.
The governor’s visit and interaction with the children, she said, demonstrated his compassion and commitment to vulnerable citizens in the state.
Some residents expressed delight over the visit, describing it as a morale booster and proof that they remain valued members of society.
They commended the governor for personally assessing their living conditions and pledged continued support for his administration’s efforts to improve their welfare. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
