Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving 68 billion naira to support the operations of the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant.
In a statement by his media aide, Dauda Iliya, Zulum described the intervention as timely, noting it will strengthen electricity supply, improve livelihoods, and enhance security in the state.
The governor said the funding, which covers operational costs through 2028, will help sustain the 50-megawatt power plant established after insurgents destroyed critical electricity infrastructure.
He added that stable power has already boosted economic activities and job creation, while reducing vulnerabilities linked to insecurity.
Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with the Federal Government to ensure sustainable power and lasting peace in Borno State.
