The Ogun West Progressive Unity Forum (OWPUF) has dismissed reports suggesting that Ogun West is divided over the governorship aspiration of All Progressives Congress (APC) hopeful, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI.
The group insisted that the senatorial district remains united in its collective political aspiration.
It described the reported opposition to Adeola’s ambition at a recent stakeholders’ conference as an attempt by individuals without the people’s mandate to create a false impression of disunity within Ogun West.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman of OWPUF, Chief Olubori Akinleye, said Senator Adeola’s record of service, reflected in his constituency projects, educational support programmes, healthcare interventions, road infrastructure initiatives and empowerment schemes, has earned him widespread goodwill and support across Ogun West as evidence of his commitment to the development of the district and Ogun State.
Akinleye stating that no amount of political rhetoric, propaganda or orchestrated gatherings can erase Adeola’s contributions or diminish the support he enjoys among the people, said, “The attempt to manufacture a crisis where none exists is nothing more than a desperate political exercise that has already failed. The people of Ogun West are politically conscious and cannot be deceived by propaganda, sensational headlines, or carefully orchestrated political gatherings. They know those who have consistently identified with them, invested in their communities, and remained committed to their development,” he said.
Akinleye stated that the people of Ogun West are capable of making informed political decisions based on the track records, competence, and demonstrated commitment of aspirants, rather than personal interest driven campaigns.
He urged members of the public to disregard statements issued by individuals or groups claiming to speak for Ogun West without the legitimacy, mandate or broad support of the people.
“We state, without any ambiguity, that Ogun West remains one united family. No individual or group, regardless of its political affiliation or personal interest, can fracture the bond that has united our people across Yewa and Awori for decades,” he added.
As preparations for the 2027 governorship election gather momentum, OWPUF called on residents of Ogun West to remain peaceful, united and focused on the district’s historic opportunity to advance its collective interest in the governance of Ogun State.
