A driver of a GUO Transport Company bus was over the weekend killed by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
An unspecified number of passengers in the bus were also abducted by the gunmen.
The incident occurred on Sunday along the Benin-Lagos highway, when the gunmen ambushed the bus heading toward the Eastern axis of the country from Lagos
It was gathered that the assailants opened fire on the vehicle, forcing it to a halt, killing the driver at the spot, and the passengers were reportedly whisked into the bush.
A video of the incident has since gone viral on various social media platforms.
The Edo State Police Command’s, Spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, who confirmed the incident disclosed that the police operatives have commenced bush combing to rescue the kidnapped passengers and possibly arrest the perpetrators.
“The incident happened under Iguobazuwa Police division. The Police Commissioner has ordered adjourning division to join the bush combing for rescue operation,” Ikoedem said.
