Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Obafemi Hamzat, has called for stronger support for young creators, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, podcasters, musicians and technology innovators.
Hamzat made the call on Friday while speaking at PodFest Naija 2026 in Lagos, where he engaged with young people shaping the creative and technology ecosystem.
He said the growing community of creators was helping to shape how Lagos and Nigeria were seen by the rest of the world.
According to him, young creators were demonstrating that talent could become an economic opportunity when the right support systems were in place.
Hamzat said Lagos had made progress in digital infrastructure, innovation, transportation and cultural spaces, but acknowledged that more needed to be done.
He stressed the need to make it easier for young talents to access funding, protect their intellectual property, build sustainable businesses and earn fairly from their work.
He said his vision was for a Lagos where a young person with an idea could find the support needed to turn it into reality.
“That is the Lagos I believe in and want us to keep building together,” Hamzat said.
He added that the state was ready to partner with individuals and organisations committed to developing Lagos, while pledging to continue listening to young people and working with them.
“I am ready to keep listening and keep working with you,” he said.
Hamzat concluded with the Lagos slogan: “Igbega Ipinle Eko, Ajumose Gbogbo wa ni” — the development of Lagos State is a collective responsibility.
