The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has declined to confirm or deny reports that former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, may leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for another political platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
Tanko, in an interview with Punch, however, reiterated that Obi would contest the 2027 presidential election.
Reacting to the development, Tanko said no official pronouncement had been made on the platform Obi would use.
He said, “Well, I would neither confirm nor deny at the same time until such a pronouncement is made officially.
“What I want to tell Nigerians is that His Excellency, Peter Obi, has continuously been saying that he will be on the ballot to run for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I believe in him, and I want Nigerians to believe that as well.
“What I said is clear: I said he will run on a platform. I did not say which platform.”
Tanko’s comment comes amid growing speculation over Obi’s political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate has repeatedly assured his supporters that he will contest the next presidential election, but the platform remains unclear.
