Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has said the opposition parties’ accusation that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is destroying them is due to the ruling party’s performance.
NewsWatch Nigeria reports that Sule stated this during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, saying the APC is performing better than the opposition political parties.
According to Sule, the opposition parties feel it is being destroyed because the APC is performing beyond expectations.
He said, “If anything is destroying the opposition parties, it’s our performance because we in the APC are performing better than they ever expected.”
Speaking further, Sule boasted that President Bola Tinubu would win the 2027 presidential election, citing his economic reforms, which have been beneficial to Nasarawa State.
He stated, “His economic reforms have been very beneficial to Nasarawa State.”
On the controversy surrounding the early endorsement ahead of the 2027 election, Governor Sule also said that his predecessor, Umaru Al-Makura, did not bring him into office or pick him from the dustbin.
He emphasised that the former Governor mentored him into politics, but he is not his godfather.
He said, “He supported me when I was coming into office. He didn’t pick me from the dustbin; he picked me as a group managing director of a quoted company.
“He is not my godfather; he mentored me into politics. The truth of the matter is that Senator Al-Makura also as an individual, had a preferred aspirant, and he has the right to have a preferred aspirant.
“And his preferred aspirant may not be my preferred aspirant, because of the fact that they come from two different zones. And I strongly believe then, I believe now, I believe tomorrow that it will not be fair to still go back to his own that has just finished 12 years. That’s my justification.”
