The lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Olushola Elliot, has declared his intention to seek re-election in the forthcoming legislative election.
Elliot announced his decision in a post shared on his Facebook page on Sunday, where he confirmed that he had obtained the nomination form to contest for another term.
The Nollywood actor turned politician said his decision was driven by his commitment to public service and his desire to build on the developmental efforts already recorded in Surulere Constituency I.
Elliot said his return to the Lagos Assembly would place him in a stronger position to attract more benefits to his constituency.
According to him, another term would make him a ranking member of the Assembly, giving Surulere Constituency I better leverage in legislative and developmental matters.
He stated, “My going back makes me automatically a ranking member and loads of benefits come to our constituency as a result of this feat.”
The legislator said his focus remained on ensuring that the people of Surulere continue to enjoy quality representation and visible development.
Elliot expressed appreciation to party leaders, ward executives, community leaders, youth groups, women groups and other stakeholders for their continued support.
He described their backing as important to his political journey and public service record.
The lawmaker said the confidence shown in him by the people of Surulere had strengthened his resolve to continue serving the constituency.
The Lagos lawmaker also appealed to his supporters to remain peaceful, united and focused throughout the electoral process.
He said unity and mutual respect would be important as the constituency prepares for another election.
Elliot added, “Our strength has always been in our togetherness, and I am confident that same spirit will guide us again.”
The legislator reaffirmed that his priority remained the continued development of Surulere Constituency I and the broader growth of Lagos State.
He said he would continue to support policies and legislative efforts aimed at improving the lives of residents and strengthening governance in the state.
