Controversial singer Portable has reacted to Davido’s recent claim that no artiste has more hit songs than him, throwing himself into the conversation and insisting that he has more hits than the Afrobeats superstar.
In an earlier post reported by Gistreel, Davido declared that he was willing to put $1 million on the table and face any artiste in a hit-song battle, insisting that nobody has more hits than him. His statement has since generated debate among music fans and fellow artistes.
Reacting to the challenge, Portable boldly declared that he was ready to face Davido, claiming that his singles and collaborations have produced major hits.
“I’m here to challenge Davido, say I get hit song pass am. My featuring, my single was a hit. And Olamide Baddo was a hit maker. He hit me, he gifted me hit. Yes, he gave me a feature, just like Skepta. Skepta gave me a feature. They gave me a hit.”
Portable, who rose to mainstream prominence with his collaboration with Olamide and Poco Lee on “Zazoo Zehh,” also highlighted his collaborations with other artistes, including Skepta.
He went on to boast about his catalogue and suggested that the only thing left for him was to enjoy the financial rewards of his music success.
“I’m a single hit. I get hit pass Davido oo. Na money just remain to buy luxury cars like Lambo and the rest. Na everyday me I dey sing hit.”
Portable’s response adds another layer to the ongoing conversation over which Nigerian artiste has the strongest catalogue of hit songs.
With Davido’s $1 million challenge now attracting attention from other artistes, music fans are likely to continue debating who would emerge victorious in a potential hit-for-hit contest.
