A woman has shared how a disagreement over a N6m increase to her wedding budget has left her acquaintance’s marriage plans hanging in the balance.
According to the woman, the couple had initially agreed on a N12m wedding budget, with the groom expected to contribute most of the money because he earns significantly more than his fiancée.
The bride-to-be, however, reportedly wanted a bigger wedding and asked her fiancé to increase the budget to N18m.
Fiancé rejects request for extra N6m
The woman said the man refused to increase the budget and told his fiancée, “If you want an ₦18m wedding, add the extra ₦6m.”
She reportedly became angry and made comments that did not sit well with him.
The situation escalated when the man questioned whether they were approaching marriage with the right mindset.
He told her, “You want to start our marriage by asking me to spend money I told you I don’t have. I need to rethink this whole thing.”
The wedding plans were subsequently cancelled.
Woman seeks help as marriage hangs in balance
According to the account, the woman has been contacting people she knows and asking them to speak with her fiancé so they can proceed with the original N12m wedding.
However, the storyteller said she advised the woman to accept the consequences of how she handled the disagreement.
She argued that the real issue was not the N6m but how the couple handled a disagreement over money before marriage.
