Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has intensified his feud with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, declaring that he would work against the governor in future elections over what he described as political betrayal and disrespect.
Speaking during a television interview, Fayose accused Makinde of undermining his political structure and weakening the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West.
The former governor said the actions of the Oyo governor had irreparably damaged their relationship and left him with no option but to oppose him politically.
Fayose, a prominent figure in the PDP, maintained that he still commands considerable influence within the party and across the region.
He alleged that Makinde had failed to accord him the respect due to senior party leaders, insisting that the governor’s actions had contributed to divisions within the opposition party.
The former Ekiti governor vowed to mobilise his supporters against Makinde whenever the opportunity arises, stressing that the political battle between them was far from over.He argued that political alliances are built on loyalty and mutual respect, principles he claimed had been disregarded by the Oyo governor.
In his remarks, Fayose also highlighted his long-standing connection to Ibadan, noting that he had lived and conducted business in the city long before Makinde ventured into politics.
He said this history gives him a strong political network in Oyo State and across the South-West.
The latest exchange underscores the deepening rift between two of the PDP’s most influential leaders in the region. Analysts believe the growing animosity could further complicate efforts to unite the party ahead of future electoral contests.
