Nollywood actor and Nigeria Democratic Congress House (NDC) of Representatives aspirant, Emeka Ike, has said he felt unsafe after his data on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal was allegedly exposed.
Naijaonpoint reports that Ike said the incident made him feel insecure for the first time in his life.
He spoke during an interview on News Central Television.
The actor described the alleged leak of his voter information in the Federal Capital Territory as an abuse of power.
Ike said, “I felt insecure. For the first time, I’m feeling like, ‘Is anybody saving this country anymore?
“It was shocking. It was so disturbing that I felt unsafe. Like that kind of feeling, that’s what it was like to me, like it’s an abuse of power.
“This is the extreme to radicalism. Political radicalism is basically telling Nigerians that ‘we are in charge.’”
Ike confirmed that he had initiated legal proceedings against Lere Olayinka, media aide to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
He said his lawyer had written to Olayinka, INEC and relevant security agencies over the matter.
Ike added, “Obviously, I will go to court, and my lawyer has already written to Lere and INEC.
“He has also written my party, the DSS and the police so that it can be on record that stuff like this has happened in Nigeria.”
